I photographed the Hillsborough Fire Department. My goal was to show the behind-the-scenes of firefighting--highlighting the significant amount of training and preparation that goes into being a firefighter. Additionally, I aim to show the closeness that is created between the firemen by spending 24-hour shifts together.

When I first walked into the department and asked if I could photograph, I did not know what to expect. That same day, I was riding in the fire truck on the way to my first call. I have felt welcomed with open arms by the entire department, and I feel so fortunate to have gotten to spend this semester getting to know such cool people. Thank you so much to everyone in the department, especially Assistant Chief Johnathan Capps, Chief Jeff Cabe, Chief Mac Cabe, and Pam, for making this project a truly meaningful and memorable experience for me.
